Based on feedback, added new live tile setting so you can decide whether you want the live tile to have a red overlay when there's an active severe weather alert. I decided to keep it off by default, so existing users will need to turn it on if they want the existing appearance change to continue to show. For those who have been patiently waiting for this addition, my apologies for the delay. For what it's worth, I was definitely going to add it to Appy Weather 2, but didn't think it's right/fair for existing users to have to wait till then especially as I can't say for certain when that will be released (well other than not soon).

Small live tile will now show a red overlay if the above setting is on; previously, only the regular and wide live tiles would take into account severe weather alerts due to an oversight.

If on a 720p or higher resolution phone, added an option to set the lock screen background resolution to "HD" in the Settings screen.

Please keep in mind that updating the HD background consumes more memory in the background; if changing to it results in decreased reliability of lock screen updates then it's recommended you change back to the "SD" lock screen resolution as this drop in reliability would indicate your phone doesn't have enough memory available to reliably update a HD lock screen in the background (note: an alternative would be to keep the HD lock screen on and either reduce size of your live tile/remove its flip element or to turn off your live tile entirely).

Fixed issue where the amount of storage space taken up by Appy Weather would progressively increase every time its background agent was run. After you launch the app after installing this update, this problem won't resurface between app launches i.e. you will no longer need to relaunch the app to work around this.

Changed live tile to use a red non-opaque overlay (and not a red opaque background) when there's an active severe weather alert + live tile background is set to transparent; on the other hand, if the live tile background is set to opaque, the background in this context will remain an opaque red.

Please note once the severe weather alert has finished, the live tile will automatically reset in the background to either fully transparent or your phone's accent colour.

Re-organised the Settings screen into logical groupings for faster and more fluid access of the options available.

Added granular toast notification settings controls: 1) can now choose the frequency of notifications, either once before precipitation starts or every hour before and during precipitation and 2) can also now determine what the minimum probability of precipitation must be in order for you to be notified.

Added quiet hours toast notification setting which allow you to mute notifications during specific hours.

Now receive toast notifications for severe weather alerts.

Can now set the live tile background to your phone's opaque accent colour; however, by default, the live tile will continue to use a transparent background.

While a severe weather alert is active, the live tile's background colour will change to an opaque red; as soon as the weather alert is over, the background colour will reset to your preferred option (transparent or phone accent).

Fixed bug where the amount of snow expected in a day was showing as an incorrectly high number when you'd expand a day's weather summary.

Optimisations have been made to the background agent to significantly reduce the possibility of it hitting memory constraints if the live tile and lock screen are both on.

To achieve this, the picture quality of the lock screen background has been reduced; this will be most noticeable on a 1080p phone. At this moment, I consider achieving reliability to be of the highest priority. But I will continue to investigate ways to increase picture quality without compromising on reliability for a future update.

If you're still experiencing issues after 1.2.1.2, please try keeping only either the live tile or lock screen on to see if it makes a difference (note: the "Metro" background is the least memory intensive lock screen background option). If it is updating, then proceed to turn the other option on. If it's not updating, please re-install the app, and only turn on either the live tile or lock screen on to begin with.

Added lock screen support with the following customisation options:

* Choose between two different layouts: 1) "Now + Today" or 2) "Now + Today + Tomorrow".

* Choose from three different background images: 1) "Bing Image of the Day", 2) "Custom Photo" and 3) (my personal favourite) "Metro" which adjusts throughout the day/night to be indicative of the time and weather and has a minimal memory footprint (especially important for 512 mb devices).

* All background images can have their opacity changed from 0-100% to ensure you've complete control over the lock screen's text legibility/readability.

* Can toggle to show/hide the current hour's feels like temperature, text summary and wind speed/direction.

Snow data points now correctly show in inches when using the imperial measurement format.

Improvements made to general reliability of background agent to minimise probability of issues occurring, which may have previously prevented the live tile from updating either periodically or completely.

Trial extended to seven days (up from three).

Thanks to everyone on 1.1.1 who took the time to send their live tile error logs! Important under-the-hood changes to the live tile's background agent were made on the back of these to significantly increase its reliability and accuracy.

If it was working flawlessly for you before (it was for the majority of users, for what it's worth), it will continue to. But if it occasionally ran into any issues, such as an inaccurate forecast or not updating every hour, it shouldn't any longer. (note: users on phones with the region format set to use a comma as the decimal separator will notice these improvements the most)

Live tile background agent error log will now consist of more information to help make identifying the root cause of any error easier.

Fixed rare issue with the Next 7 Days card's list view/Next 5 Days live tile repeating the name of the same day twice. (note: the weather for the duplicate day was actually the correct weather for the day it was meant to be for i.e. the issue was purely cosmetic)

The menus on the Settings screen should consistently animate smoothly (finally!).

Made a few tweaks to further increase reliability of the live tile.

If the live tile however stops updating (note: only a few users have reported this), turning the live tile off and on again should now create a new working live tile (note: previously, when this happened, toggling the live tile off/on didn't make any difference - live tile would remain in a non-updating state; however, it should also be noted that for one of these users relaunching the app restarted the live tile successfully).

If the background agent runs into any issues, the error will be saved and available to be emailed to the developer via the Settings screen. This has been added to determine why it may have stopped for the few users who've reported experiencing problems.

Now wide live tile will now show the correct percentage for chance of precipitation when it's mostly cloudy (note: previously, it was always incorrectly showing 0% chance of precipitation).

If a country is +/- x:30 hours GMT, then live tiles will show the correct time in the last updated timestamp (note: previously, it was showing a time 30 minutes into the future!). This will also impact when the live tile jumps to the next hour before the next hour has actually been reached (it was doing so too early before). In order to see this fix, launch the app or wait around a few background agent calls (could be less, could be more).

Can now choose to have wind in either "m/s" or "km/hr" when measurement format is set to "metric".

Toast notification will now state exactly how many hours left till precipitation stops when it's expected to stop beyond 12 hours (previously it would just state that it will stop in 12+ hours).

New 'Alert' card added that appears when there is a severe weather alert, issued by a governmental weather authority, pertinent to the requested location.

When approaching the end of an hour, live tile will now default to next hour's weather. This is to avoid showing last hour's weather until the first background agent call of the hour occurs, which can be up to 20 minutes into an hour.

If in the current hour, and there's no sign of forecast for precipitation for the next hour, but when you enter the next hour precipitation suddenly becomes forecasted, you should now receive a toast notification.

Fixed issue on Next Hour and Later cards where when there's precipitation expected to continue for at least another 13 or more hours going into tomorrow, and text did not make that clear.

Fixed crash at start-up that occurred when you first launch the app, choose to get your current location's weather but it fails, add a location manually, turn on the live tile, exit the app and then relaunch.

Live tile will now reset to a static tile with app icon when trial ends. This will hopefully be a better visual cue indicating that the trial has expired, and to not mislead users less into thinking the live tile has stopped working.

Added toast notifications to alert when rain or snow is expected in the next hour (note: off by default, can be turned on via the Settings).

Live tile now uses minutely data for current and next hour data points when precipitation is expected, thereby increasing the accuracy of the precipitation probability predicted for both data points.

Live tile updating now even more frequently when there is even the smallest chance of precipitation at any point in the day.

Added option to not flip regular tile.

Fixed rare issue where weather was not being fetched at all on certain devices (two Lumia 520 Windows Phone 8.0 users had reported this, but it wasn't an issue that appeared to be affecting all 520 users).

In case anything goes wrong in a live tile background agent request, more fallbacks have been added to ensure the live tile is more likely to update regardless (note: no one has reported any problems with the live tile's reliability; the fallbacks have just been added to make it even more reliable).

Fixed rare crash if you launched the app for the first time, chose to get your current location's weather, fetched it successfully, turned on the live tile, went back to the Start screen, re-launched the app, but the app would crash (and would continue on subsequent launches - temporary workaround was to re-install the app). For reference, this was happening because your current location's name was not being returned before you turned on live tile/re-launched the app.

When you change themes, all icon colours in charts now show the correct colour immediately (no longer need to refresh).

Text summarising tomorrow and weekend's weather uses more appropriate conjunctions when it's hot and there's rain involved.

Fixed issue where probability of rain was not showing for live tile columns where the weather was rain w/ wind.

If the weather for Later (card) onwards is not mostly raining, but it will rain briefly during the time that the Later period covers, text now acknowledges this.

Live tile updates more regularly during the hour right before when precipitation is expected to occur, in case precipitation occurs earlier than expected.
